Mammalian Lgl Forms a Protein Complex with PAR-6 and aPKC Independently of PAR-3 to Regulate Epithelial Cell Polarity
BACKGROUND Epithelial cells have apicobasal polarity and an asymmetric junctional complex that provides the bases for development and tissue maintenance. In both vertebrates and invertebrates, the evolutionarily conserved protein complex, PAR-6/aPKC/PAR-3, localizes to the subapical region and plays critical roles in the establishment of a junctional complex and cell polarity. In Drosophila, an...
متن کاملLocation as a Poverty Trap
In this paper, we ask “Can proximity to towns reduces poverty in rural areas?” For this study we have mapped all the villages in Orissa. The study is based on small area poverty estimation methodology as well as the secondary data covering 47,395 villages and 109 towns. Our main findings are (i) there is a relationship between the distance to nearest town and rural poverty and (ii) poverty leve...
متن کاملA characterization of L-dual frames and L-dual Riesz bases
This paper is an investigation of $L$-dual frames with respect to a function-valued inner product, the so called $L$-bracket product on $L^{2}(G)$, where G is a locally compact abelian group with a uniform lattice $L$. We show that several well known theorems for dual frames and dual Riesz bases in a Hilbert space remain valid for $L$-dual frames and $L$-dual Riesz bases in $L^{2}(G)$.
متن کاملCloning and characterization of MAP2191 gene, a mammalian cell entry antigen of Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis
The aim of this study is to identify, clone and express a Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis specific immunogenic antigen candidate, in order to develop better reagents for diagnosis and vaccines for the protection of the host. Therefore, MAP2191 gene (a member of MAPmce5 operon) from MAP, was isolated and characterized by Bioinformatics tools and <e...
متن کاملProtein clustering for cell polarity: Par-3 as a paradigm
The scaffold protein Par-3 ( Drosophila Bazooka) is a central organizer of cell polarity across animals. This review focuses on how the clustering of Par-3 contributes to cell polarity. It begins with the Par-3 homo-oligomerization mechanism and its regulation by Par-1 phosphorylation. The role of polarized cytoskeletal networks in distributing Par-3 clusters to one end of the cell is then disc...
